The learner achieving this unit standard in combination with other content-related standards will be able to manage the daily operations, finances, human resources, facility structures and equipment, stock of a sport, recreation or fitness facility as well as the members and/or participants and/or spectators. The learner will achieve this through the application of effective managerial, organisational, reporting, communication, supervision and leadership skills. Furthermore, the learner will be able to evaluate and report on the activities of the facility.

Competent learners will provide the environment for quality experiences to participants and thus strengthen the profession in general.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:

• Involve the community in the utilisation of the facility.
• Manage the programme of activities at the facility.
• Administer the operations of a sports facility.
